In the River, Rangeley, Maine

A friend and I came upon this solitary figure one morning in the Rangeley, Maine area. He was standing on a flat rock and fishing a pool, deep in the far shadows. I was struck by the light, the huge rocks and the image of him appearing to stand on the water. I first drew in the darks with India #ink and popsicle sticks sharpened to a point. Then a bit of charcoal white for birch trees and #watercolor washes over remaining light areas.
